Rhinos not up to Cobram challenge

The Deniliquin Rhinos B grade had another tough week at the crease on Saturday, going head-tohead with Cobram.

Cobram, second on the Murray Valley Cricket Association’s B grade ladder, had a strong five wicket win over the Rhinos.

They only had to chase down 60 after the Rhinos’ batting innings. The toss was won by Cobram. While the Rhinos had the home ground advantage, they struggled to get runs on the board with the highest run scorers for the day — Chris Pyle and Kai Hillier — making only 13 runs each.

Second highest run scorer was Dominic Read with a total of nine runs.

The Rhinos finished their batting innings all out for 60 runs after 22.5 overs.

Cobram started strong with their opening batsmen scoring the highest runs for the day — Noah Iddles with 17 and Nicholas Hoban with 19.

Stand out bowling performances from the Rhinos were Read and Rhys Westcott with three wickets between them.

Tom McCallum also helped the Rhinos fielding taking two catches

Cobram declared on 5/67 after just 15 overs.
